Our Saddle Water Bottle Holders
As a father of two young girls, I faced a persistent problem when we went for a ride. That was, finding out a good way to help them carry their water bottles. It wasn’t an end-of-the-world problem, but it was annoying. Simply slinging some leather around the saddle horn wasn’t working as well as I thought it could. After some trial and error, and with the help of my wife, we eventually settled on a simple and functional water bottle holder design.
These leather saddle water bottle holders are what we came up with. They attach to the rear D-Ring and billet. This keeps them out of the way, yet easy to access. Also, attaching them to the billet keeps them from flopping around as you trot and lope your horse. As a result, they work well for arena riding, trail riding, or even most ranch work.
In terms of material, these holders are made of 5 - 7 oz. leather. This makes them thick enough for durability purposes, yet they avoid the unnecessary weight of too thick of leather. You may also appreciate the simple all-leather design. The only metal on these are the Horseshoe Brand buckles from Jeremiah Watt. There are no rivets or stitching to come undone. Simple.
